Smoken Wicked Impressive In Amsterdam Win

Smoken Wicked | Sarah Andrew

Smoken Wicked (Bobby's Wicked One), a two-time stakes winner versus fellow Louisiana-breds, broke through at the graded level with a dominant performance in Friday's GII Amsterdam S. at the Spa.

The 5-2 chance pressed favored Macho Music (Maclean's Music) through an opening quarter in :22.09, took over approaching the quarter pole and blasted off for home to win impressively by 5 3/4 lengths.

Sixth behind the aforementioned Macho Music in the GII Pat Day Mile S. May 3, Smoken Wicked entered off a second-place finish in the Maxfield S. June 29. He made two previous starts at Saratoga last season, finishing third in the GII Saratoga Special S. and fourth in the GI Hopeful S.

“The horse has been very solid,” winning trainer Dallas Stewart said. “His last race was solid–he got beat by a pretty dominant horse (Verifire). He's trained very well since, we know he likes this track. He's a good shipper and held his weight good. He looked very dominant in the paddock, to me. He showed up today.”

Pedigree Notes:

Smoken Wicked becomes the first graded winner for Bobby's Wicked One, a son of Speightstown. Broodmare sire Street Boss is now responsible for four graded winners. The winner's two-time winning dam Street Smoke has also produced the 2-year-old colt Wildly Wicked (Bobby's Wicked One) and a yearling filly by Bobby's Wicked One. Street Smoke brought $22,000 from Smoken Wicked co-breeder Thomas Curtis at the 2019 KEENOV sale.
